Priyanka Mangaonkar - Vaiude

Architect

Priyanka Mangaonkar-Vaiude is trained as an Architect & Interior-Designer. She specializes in Craft and Technology from CEPT University, Ahmadabad (where she had received academic scholarship and was also selected for an International Exchange Program - IMIAD). She is currently working as an Assistant Professor at SMEF’s Brick School of Architecture, Pune (Maharashtra). She is passionate about Interior-Architecture; Craft and Technology, Materials and construction techniques, Design Research and Writing. She has worked as a project coordinator with the prestigious Center for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy (CARBSE), Ahmadabad for a project titled 'Energy efficiency Improvements in Indian brick Industry' for promoting energy efficiency in the Indian brick sector, in collaboration with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). She has also contributed articles and papers, especially focusing on the temple architecture of Bishnupur in West Bengal that talk about the construction style and materials used at that time. Two of her co-authored research papers, which emphasize on the Construction History of Pune, with specific reference to the Post Independence era in India, have further contributed to the chapters of an upcoming book that discusses the Construction practices in Pune post Independence (1947 – 1982) and the role of an Architect; Engineer; Contractor; and, a Craftsperson in Building up Pune’s Architecture. She has also conducted several workshops, the most significant among which, is a two day workshop at IIT Roorkee - "Terracotta: Transformation through Time", which discussed and explained the role of materials; craft; skills; tools & techniques; in creating Interior Architecture. She has also given few guest lectures, including the prestigious GIAN course on - "Interior-Architecture; Craft; and, Design: Focus on Interdisciplinary", conducted at IIT Roorkee. She has attended few crucial workshops like “Earth building workshop” organized by DICRC in collaboration with Hunnershala, Kutch, where she also presented her postgraduate paper. She is very keen on developing the building crafts of Maharashtra; loves travelling & documentation; and, enjoys participation and conducting hands-on sessions in art and architecture.

Outside expert on Board of studies for department of Design of I.K Gujral Punjab Technical University.

Presented a paper at International conference on Sustainable development held at Ahmedabad organized by GARI (Global Academic Research Institute, Sri Lanka) .

Worked as one of the reviewer for NPTEL MHRDA-GIAN Short term course titled “Role of Craft and Technology in Interior-Architecture”organized by IIT Roorkee in July-Oct 2018.

Selected for IMIAD (International Masters of Interior Architecture and Design) Workshop held at Edinburgh, UK in 2009.

Presented a paper at Annual Congress organized by “Construction History Society” held at Cambridge, UK in April 2016.

Published a research paper at “National Conference on Green Buildings for Sustainable Development” held at MITS, Gwalior.
